New Media

Home/New Media

New media most commonly refers to content available on-demand through the Internet, accessible on any digital device, usually containing interactive user feedback and creative participation. Common examples of this include websites such as online newspapers, blogs, or wikis, video games, and social media. A defining characteristic of new media is dialogue. New Media transmit content through connection and conversation. It enables people around the world to share, comment on, and discuss a wide variety of topics. Unlike any of past technologies, it is grounded on an interactive community.

Most technologies described as “new media” are digital, often having characteristics of being manipulated, networkable, dense, compressible, and interactive. Some examples may be the Internet, websites, computer multimedia, video games, augmented reality, CD-ROMS, and DVDs. New media are often contrasted to “old media,” such as television, radio, and print media, although scholars in communication and media studies have criticized rigid distinctions based on oldness and novelty.

Ariana Grande has a new video on the market titled "Side To Side". It is not hard to miss the video's sponsorship by GUESS. Video sponsorships are not new in the marketing industry. The question is why sponsorships are on the rise? The other question is why is digital advertising not as effective. I don’t think there is any question digital advertising has seen a reduction in effectiveness. Brands are always looking to overcome these challenges by considering many different digital marketing channels. This includes areas advertisers and media buyers are not used to spending ad budgets. This is because the return on investment may not be as fast as they would like. A part of the new sponsorship areas include native advertising in content marketing areas. You can find native advertising with sponsored content in the [...]

Would you hire your traditional printer to make marketing and advertising decisions for your company? If you would not, then why would you hire a technology company for web marketing or web advertising? In the defense of many businesses, they do hear the same words coming from both the marketer and the technology company. Both companies use the words "SEO", "optimization", "paid search", and many other terms, which on the surface sound the same. Thus, a business that doesn't understand the digital medium would not know there is a difference between these two types of companies. Evolution of Disciplines on the Web If I think about 20 years ago when we first put a website together using HTML 0.0 we could bold text, change colors, make text flash and use an animated gif for a mailbox that opened and closed. Twitter May Not Be A Very Good Content Marketing Tool

Is Twitter a good long term content marketing tool?
