Search Engine Optimization

Home/Search Engine Optimization

Search engine optimization is a process which affects the ranking of a website in a search engine’s organic search results for targeted keywords or keyword phrases.

In general, the earlier (or higher ranked on the search results page), and more frequently a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine’s users, and these visitors can be converted into customers. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, video search, academic search, news search and industry-specific vertical search engines.

As an Internet marketing strategy, SEO considers how search engines work, what people search for, the actual search terms or keywords typed into search engines and which search engines are preferred by their targeted audience. Optimizing a website may involve editing its content, HTML and associated coding to both increase its relevance to specific keywords and to remove barriers to the indexing activities of search engines. Promoting a site to increase the number of backlinks, or inbound links, is another SEO tactic. As of May 2015, mobile search has finally surpassed desktop search, Google is developing and pushing mobile search as the future in all of its products and many brands are beginning to take a different approach on their internet strategies.

The Power of Website Design And Conversion Rate Optimization

Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) combined with smart website design are a powerful combination for any business. Increasing leads and sales from your business's website is the primary objective. It is important to understand that achieving this goal requires three types of disciplines. It is optimal to combine a marketer, a CRO practitioner, and a creative designer that understand user experience (UX) and the user interface (UI): The marketer understands the strategy, options, and resources to execute various solutions. The CRO practitioner understands metrics, reports, analytics, analysis, and how to interpret the results from multiple data points. The designer will be able to take direction from the marketer and the CRO practitioner to develop the visuals and the layout. It takes all three of these disciplines to continually improve the website’s conversion. This will allow you to reach the lead and sales goals of your website. Website Design Will Increase Lead and Sales Conversions The user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) are important factors in your website design and design optimization. UI encompasses the creative design, visuals, layout and functional elements presented to the website visitor. UX provides an easy and enjoyable experience via how a given user interacts [...]

How Content Marketing Became King To Increase Your Revenue

In content marketing, you may have heard that "Content Is King" on the Internet. The statement is 100% accurate and was made famous by Bill Gates in 1996. His writings about content continue to be true today. Bill Gates states, "Those who succeed will propel the Internet forward as a marketplace of ideas, experiences, and products - a marketplace of content." The reality remains that the company with the most content and backlinks to their website wins over their competition. The "backlinks" portion is significant. Developing and writing content is only the first step. Where and how to distribute your content is even more important. You want to find distribution points that allow for engagement and viral re-distribution. Content Marketing is one of the key activities in your Inbound Marketing Strategy. You will want to prepare a plan that incorporates inbound marketing as part of your marketing communications. The Residual Value of Content Marketing Advertising only works when there is a budget for ads to run. When the money is no longer there, there is no residual value to the money spent. You have to continue spending money on a disruptive type channel to see results. A disruption many netizens [...]

How To Use Content Marketing Strategy To Your Advantage

Content Marketing Strategy is more important than any advertising campaign a business spends its money on.  The reality is 92 percent of marketers reported their company views content as a business asset.  Yet fewer than half (46%) have a documented strategy for managing content as a business asset.  As such, your content marketing strategy needs to be one of the key strategies used to achieve your marketing goals and have a competitive advantage in the marketplace. Content Marketing Strategy As A Competitive Advantage The Content Marketing Institute defines content marketing as a strategic marketing activity focused on developing and distributing content.  This content is valuable, relevant, and consistent to attract the audience the business is seeking.  Of course, the end result being an increase in revenue from these efforts and activities. For a lot of businesses, content marketing is not perceived as sexy as advertising.  Content marketing is not a sales brochure and it is not an advertising campaign.  Content marketing is about using articles, news releases, press releases, blog posts, PDFs, Powerpoint presentations, images, graphics, photography, video, infographics, and much more. The goal of content marketing is to educate your audience with meaningful expertise.  The audience benefits from and [...]

Google’s Penguin Algorithm With New Real-Time Results Now Released

It has been two years since Google updated the Penguin algorithm. The most significant change is Penguin runs in real-time, meaning the algorithm is no longer an add-on. Penguin will make decisions at the time of a search. This, also, means the Penguin algorithm no longer will receive updates, as it is part of Google’s core algorithm. August and September months have historically been when Google makes these changes impacting the search engine ranking positions (SERP) of websites. Including Penguin into the core algorithm, means the changes will happen immediately. You’ll know if you’ve been affected…NOW! Understanding The Google Penguin Algorithm? Internet Marketing and the Small Business

Small Business blog post was published on December 5, 2005. This article was updated to meet current blo requirements with small text revisions on February 26, 2020. The internet marketing landscape has changed quite a bit in the past 3 years and has further defined itself further in the past 12 months. With Google raising $4 Billion from new stock offerings in 2005 we will see more changes underway over the next 3 years. Unfortunately, I fear the small business is going to be left out in the cold in this process. Perhaps a better statement would be that the small business has already been left out in the cold. This writing is certainly not designed to provide a solution to the growing problem. More so, it has been written to raise awareness and acknowledge the difficulty small business has on the web. Certainly, the small business does not receive any sympathy from the major search engines in their quest to provide quality information for those that are searching the web. Let's review how the situation has been created. We have to make the assumption a small business does not have the financial resources for a proper advertising campaign on [...]
