Jaguar keeps the iconic vintage model appearance alive in its upcoming model E-Type Zero
Jaguar is going back to the future with an electrified E-type model. The model E-Type Zero replicates some of the features of the 1960’s. The designers have created a self-contained modular electric powertrain that has the same dimensions and physique as the original engine and transmission. The 40.0-kWh battery pack is similar to the battery pack in the Range Rover P400e plug-in hybrid, with twice the amount of cells and improved energy. It sits alongside a compact 295-hp electric motor. This area is where the four-speed gearbox once sat. Jaguar unveiled the prototype of the E-Type Zero at the Quail, a Motorsports Gathering at the Monterey Car Week earlier this year. The pure energy from the E-Type Zero is sure to turn heads once seen blazing through the streets of Santa Barbara. Jaguar Santa Barbara is proud to be a Jaguar authorized dealer and invites you to stop in ask about the futuristic, yet classic style E-Type Zero along with current models available in the Jaguar lineup.
Jaguar director boasts about the classic car with modern styles in the Jaguar E-Type Zero
The Jaguar Land Rover Classic Director, Tim Hannig, as reported in an online newsletter of Robb Report, is all about the revival of the classic cars and believes that classic cars have a place in the future. “One of our big motivations for doing the E-type Zero was the growing number of cities, such as Paris and London, that are considering banning internal combustion engines,” said Hannig. “We wanted there to be something for people who love classic cars in case they’re banned from driving them.” Hannig also believes that the ongoing Uber-fed shift in attitudes regarding automobiles and mobility is creating a greater importance on the functionality of a vintage vehicle. Hannig has been Jaguar Land Rover Classic Director for two years and is proud to bring classic cars out of the collections showroom and onto the streets.
The Jaguar E-Type Zero offers lengthy battery life and power in its engine
The battery life range in the latest new style Jaguar E-Type Zero is said to last around 200 miles in optimum conditions and about 125 miles during regular use. A 7.0-kW onboard charger will be capable of replenishing the battery pack in about five hours when connected to a 240-volt source, but will take longer from a standard 120-volt household outlet. The control electronics are located under the trunk floor where the spare tire once sat. The all-electric E-Type Zero is sure to please the Jaguar aficionado and vintage car lovers alike. Focusing on pleasing the pallets of many in Jaguar tastes, the E-Type Zero succeeds on all fronts. Jaguar states that this amazing vehicle should hit the streets by the summer of 2020.
