When the new and improved 2020 Jaguar XE comes to Holmes Jaguar of Shreveport this summer, consumers should find the model’s overhaul quite refreshing.

Revamped model fixes interior, exterior for the better

After three years of the XE, Jaguar has decided to be more aggressive with how it treats this particular model, so that it can be more competitive with others in its luxury sports sedan class.

New features, many of which will be noticed inside

The 2020 XE will feature noticeable exterior changes that will differentiate itself from models of the past three years. That includes redesigned near front and rear numbers, a wider grille and updated taillights.

“The XE has always been a sharp-looking car, but fairly subtle styling changes have actually done a lot to improve the look of the XE and keep it looking up to date,” said Daniel Golson of Car and Driver. “LED headlights with a more modern design are now standard, and the LED taillights have been redesigned to align with those of other Jaguar models. The grille is larger and has a new mesh design, the front bumper has bigger openings and is more angular, and the rear diffuser has been redesigned.”

Two turbocharged two-liter, four-cylinder models will be available: P250 models that will make 247 horsepower, and P300 models that will make 296 horsepower.

But as Edmunds points out, the details most impressive about the 2020 version highlight a new-and-improved interior. The vehicle’s optional InControl Touch Pro Duo system puts all of the sedan’s functions in the hands of the user, allowing for the ability for settings to be manipulated on a whim. One 10-inch touchscreen will be utilized for the infotainment system while the other touchscreen will allow for climate control modifications.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will now be standard on all XE trims. Other model options will include wireless device charging, digital rearview mirror, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot and automated parallel and perpendicular parking assistance. One feature will also give a driver the ability to adjust steering or seating from the key fob or smartphone.

The new model also features genuine leather, as well as an update from a popup rotary knob to a traditional shifter — similar to the one in the Jaguar’s F-Type sports car. Other interior changes include the use of soft-touch materials on parts like doors, the dashboard and center-console sides.

“The interior certainly looks more modern, with ambient lighting adding a splash of color and boldness that was missing from the previous XE’s interior,” Cars.com wrote in a preview.
