BMW and U.S. Olympians are teaming up to improve performance.

BMW is partnering with the US Olympic Team to support this year’s athletes as they head for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England.  BMW has been named the official mobility partner for the United States Olympic Committee.  As an official sponsor, BMW will be providing Olympic and Paralympic athletes with financial support and access to BMW technologies and resources to further their training and performance.

With the 2012 Summer Olympics only days away, the U.S. Olympic team is heavily preparing for competition.  From training and practice to qualifying events, the U.S. Olympic team is prepping for another successful year on the world stage and BMW has promised to add their support to make that goal a reality.

Introducing the 2012 BMW Performance Team

The 2012 BMW Performance Team features new and seasoned athletes who each have a rich history and promising future at the Olympic Games.  Together, the team has won 12 Olympic gold medals, seven Olympic silver medals, and seven Olympic bronze medals.  Members of the BMW Performance Team come from diverse backgrounds and include Ricky Berens (swimming), Matt Chrabot (triathlon), Bryan Clay (track & field), Natalie Coughlin (swimming), Janet Evans (swimming), April Holmes (Paralympic track & field), Jonathan Horton (gymnastics), Clay Johnson (sailing), Sanya Richards-Ross (track & field), and Mallory Weggemann (Paralympic swimming).

BMW Technology Aids with Olympic Training

According to the BMW Group, in addition to providing financial support, BMW is also offering athletes access to BMW technology and resources to assist with training and performance.  For example, BMW engineers are currently working with the USA Track and Field team to measure athlete velocity with advanced stereo-vision technology that was inspired by similar safety technology presently used in BMW vehicles.

BMW has a rich heritage of being dedicated to exceptional automotive design and performance.  The partnership between BMW and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic team reflects BMW’s commitment to engineering excellence.  Like a well-trained athlete, each BMW vehicle is engineered for heightened performance and reliability.  Sleek, powerful, and efficient, the 2012 line-up of BMW models offers drivers the promise of a great driving experience every time they hit the road.
